Crafting / Roots/ Owls /Quilts

Having been a year since I last sewed or stitched, I am now back to my crafting roots and loving it even more than before.

My recent obsession with owls, (owls as images, textiles patterns rather than actual owls), has been taking  over my new flat.

I have recently made a cushion with an applique owl on the front , based on my own design and pattern, plus in the process of making a little fabric owl family.

Just on the street where I live is the Pin Tin a well known awesome wool, fabric and everything craft based shop in Plymouth, Devon, which also has a work shop were you can attend classes, such as lamp shade making, underwear designing /making, upholstery and much more. I have recently started going to the quilting/patchwork class, as I wanted to learn a craft that was more structured than I was used to, Patchwork quilting has a long American and English history and a wide varied practice.

I have found the lady, Denise who runs the class, extremely knowledgeable and very broad based in her craft skills. This week Denise helped me with my patchwork pattern, plus gave me lots of little templates to make fabric hanging Christmas tree decorations.

If you are interested in requesting my applique owl pattern , the pattern for the hand stitched fabric owl then please e-mail me on linseymendia@yahoo.co.uk or just leave me a comment on this blog.

This blanket is going to be for a baby, hence the pattern and the colour choice
